Working farm holidays at Lower Campscott…

Working farm holidays

February half term was a winner all round for everyone! It’s the first time we’ve opened this early in the year and we were delighted to welcome lots of lovely guests including a group of family and friends staying in several of the cottages & lodges to celebrate a special 70th birthday. With the site almost full, everyone enjoyed their working farm holidays and we all had a really jolly time. The weather wasn’t brilliant but everyone took advantage of the sunny days to get out and about, explore the beaches – Woolacombe beach is glorious at this time of the year and very empty – and join Farmer Tony for his daily animal feeding. He even managed some tractor and trailer rides around the farm.

Now all our guests have gone home and it’s quiet on the farm, although Farmer Tony still has his animals to look after. This afternoon the Dexters decided to go on walkabout – pursuing cows across a muddy field in wellies could well be the next winter olympic sport, entertaining to watch and always the chance of a dramatic tumble! One of our escapees is expecting a calf any day so it was important to keep them calm and return them to their field with as little fuss as possible.

By the time we reopen for Easter, Pinetree Lodge will have a brand new kitchen – it’s our biggest holiday home which sleeps 8 and is also large enough for several families to meet up in. The new kitchen will make it even easier for preparing & cooking meals for several families and groups of friends.
