Walking the South West Coast Path – National Walking Month at Lower Campscott

May is National Walking Month, making it the perfect time to explore  the South West Coast Path and the stunning landscapes of North Devon. At Lower Campscott Farm, you can step straight into nature—no need to drive anywhere. Our farm is crisscrossed with footpaths that lead you through rolling countryside and down to the sea.

One of our favourite routes will take you from the farm to Lee Bay, where you can join the South West Coast Path. From there, head north towards Ilfracombe and Combe Martin or south to Mortehoe and Woolacombe. Choose a circular walk back inland or enjoy a one-way coastal trek and return by taxi, the choice is yours.

Just a short drive away, Exmoor National Park offers breathtaking walks year-round. Park at Hunter’s Inn for a gentle stroll along the stream to Heddon’s Mouth or tackle the more challenging climb through Trentishoe via the coast path. Either way, you’ll have earned a slice of homemade cake and a cup of tea — or perhaps something stronger!

Lower Campscott is ideal for walking groups and ramblers. Our eight cottages and lodges can accommodate up to 40 people and can be booked in any combination. Groups can gather in the Old Dairy function room for shared meals, evening film nights, or simply to plan your next adventure. We can also offer drying facilities for wet gear, plenty of hot water from our eco-friendly biomass boiler, and cosy, year-round warmth.

Whether you’re part of a Ramblers club or just looking to enjoy the stunning South West Coast Path with friends or family, we’d love to help you plan your stay.
