We’ve been so lucky with the weather this half term, our guests have enjoyed glorious sunshine with lots of trips to the beach and barbeques outside their cottages and lodges. Lee village fete is held every May bank holiday and the sunshine really brought out the crowds this year, Kathy did a stint serving cream teas in the village hall and was rushed off her feet so the peace and tranquillity of Lower Campscott in the sunshine was a welcome relief.
North Devon has been positively humming with lots of great things to do, the National Trust tractor and trailer rides around Morte Point started this week and will resume in the school summer holidays every Wednesday. They’re brilliant for learning more about the nature, wildlife and dramatic history of this beautiful place and you may even get a chance to see the seals if you are lucky.
Back on the farm we have a new project going on. Anyone who has stayed with us in the past may remember the rather unattractive yellow mobile home tucked away near the campsite – well thankfully it’s now gone! Since we arrived at Lower Campscott six years ago we have been carrying out an ongoing refurbishment plan on all of our seven cottages and lodges bringing them up to a 4 star grading but Larchtree was always on the list for replacement and now we can unveil our plans for the lovely new improved Larchtree Lodge which will be arriving this summer.
Earlier this month a transport lorry lifted the old mobile home and took it away to be recycled, then a local contractor with his digger arrived to clear and level the site in preparation for the spacious new 3 bedroomed lodge which will be up and ready later this year. More about the new Larchtree in a future blog.
The school summer holidays are nearly fully booked with just onew week left – 22nd July in Hydrangea so if you haven’t booked yet or you know anyone who would like a holiday at Lower Campscott then please get in touch and spread the word too.
