There’s just a few weeks left of the school summer holidays and we’ve been welcoming old friends and new to our farm holiday cottages & lodges and to the green camping glade too. For one family group who camped and stayed in Granary cottage it was their 26th holiday at Lower Campscott!
North Devon is heaven in the sunshine
Fantastic weather over the past two weeks has meant many trips to the beach for our guests with Lee Bay voted favourite and Woolacombe and Putsborough beaches a close second. Stunning sunsets have been enjoyed whilst eating fish and chips on the beach – it would be rude not too! – and barbequing our succulent sausages and delicious home-produced Dexter beef steak outside cottages and lodges. Holidays in Devon don’t get much better than this, the weather can be frustrating at times but when the sun’s out, all is forgotten and everyone heads to the beach or stretches out in the sunshine and enjoys the peace of the farm.
We do seem to be getting a reputation for offering a variety of animals in need of a home at Lower Campscott so we weren’t surprised when a mystery duck arrived a few weeks ago, we think it’s a black Barbary. She spends her time sitting on fence posts around the farm or on the pond with the mallards and never fails to appear when some feed is about to be scattered outside the games room at tea time. We have no idea where she has come from but she seems to have adopted us and is quite happy at the farm – she can fly but hasn’t shown any signs of wanting to leave yet.
